Visit Downtown Homer and the area
Spend a day in the charming little town of Homer, Georgia. This small town will add to your Foxglove Flower Farm experience.
In town you will step back in time finding the Historic Courthouse built in 1863 and the Historic Old Jail built in 1880. Tours are available when special events and festivals are held in town. Several old building remain undisturbed in downtown including the Newspaper Print shop.
A must stop is the Amish Store (David and Katie’s) stocked full of dried goods, fresh meats, and a deli making fresh sandwiches. Stop by Jax’s Shack for a slice of freshly made decadent cheesecakes. Enjoy your lunch in the charming old town park adorned with picnic tables and the 1965 water fountain built with Tennessee Crab Orchid Rock donated by Oscar Garrison and restored by his son, Bo Garrison in 2018. Veteran’s Park is in honor of the heroes who fought and who fight for our freedom.
A gem to see is Fort Hollingsworth, a 1793 fort turned farmhouse, is a pioneer fort built in the Cherokee Nation. A tour is planned for Oct 13, 2024 and will be available for events in the near future. Follow the above on Facebook for the latest details.

The Garrison’s Easter Egg Hunt (1959-2009) was recognized in the 1980’s as Georgia’s Largest Easter Egg Hunt in the Guinness World Book of Records. Started by Buster Garrison and continued by son Mack Garrison until 2009. In 2023 the Egg Hunt was resurrected by the Town of Homer and the Massey Family. The Hunt is held the Saturday before Easter and is across the road from Foxglove Flower Farm.
Ty Cobb (1886-1961) was born in Narrows, Ga, now known as the Narrows, in Banks County. In 1864, Narrows was the site of the Battle of the Narrows between the Confederate and Union forces.
Hiking
Northeast Georgia has beautiful and easy hiking trails within a 60 minutes of Homer. Lake Russell Loop in Mt. Airy, Shortline Walking Trail at Tallulah Falls, Minnehaha Falls in Lakemont, and Hemlock Falls at Lake Burton.
